goodbye winter

It's the last day of winter and we love the sunshine and warm breezy days that tell us that SPRING is on it's way! We still have rainy days here and there but that just means we have fun puddles for jumping in. We spent last weekend doing some gardening around the house, which we usually enjoy but just don't have the time. I popped into flower power to pick up some lawn food but ended up coming back with a car full of seedlings and bulbs!

I love poppies.

Josh and Ash helped out with the digging, planting and watering........

baby, baby, baby

This magazine arrived last week from from a friend in Tokyo and I have been spending hours looking through all the crafty goodness while also trying to work out the instructions! There is even a little book inside with more patterns for little projects......

Here are a couple of baby bibs that I made from the pattern book. There are babies all around at the moment, either newborn or friends expecting to pop soon, so I am sure they will come in handy!

oh so quiet....

Not much time for crafting around here lately. In between entertaining the two little ones, work, cleaning, cooking (or really, attempting to cook), there isn't much time left over to sew. We are missing hubbie and excited about him coming home soon. I did manage to duck out during breaks to find these lovely papers from Ruby Star Traders (10 Bridge Rd, Glebe). They have beautiful furnishings and homewares and many of these decorative papers which I've been using to make little gift tags.

We have also been enjoying the sunshine! Visits to the park, bike rides and swinging on the swings always keeps us happy. Hanging out new fabrics on the washing line also makes me happy!

more bags.....

After watching me make Eliza's bag, Josh asked for a bag too, a blue one with a car on it! So I went back to the sewing machine and while I was at it, made one for Ashley as well.

A little red felt for the car and a couple of buttons for wheels! Ashley didn't really take to her bag, I think she preferred the one with the little car on it (fussy little thing!).

a second package

I received another button package in the mail today and had to take pictures right away!
Thanks Jessica for your generous package, I love these green buttons........

and these white ones........

Inside the package were some great zodiac buttons (mum is an aries), some gripper snap fasteners with cool instructions on the back, a hello on the back of a page from a book with the nicest words, a very sweet pillowcase, and of course wonderful vintage buttons! The buttons were sewn onto fabric cards and sorted into groups, which I loved! They are too nice to use, thank-you so much Jessica!

counting down....

Hubbie has just left for overseas on a business trip and will be away for almost two weeks so we spent most of the weekend trying to keep busy. The weather has been patchy, sunshine one minute and rainy the next so we decided to meet some friends at Lollipops, an indoor playground for the little ones. We all had a good time (along with about two hundred other children!) and managed to get through the weekend. We have our little countdown calendar and can't wait for our "1 sleep to go" till Baba is back! Counting down.......

a little surprise....

I found this lovely package in my letterbox this afternoon....all the way from Paris. It is part of the vintage button swap and inside were the most wonderful buttons!

Thank-you Celine! I love the large green buttons, the round buttons, and especially love the flower buttons! I wasn't expecting a package for another week at least as our post office told me that it would take a couple of weeks for my package to make it's way to Paris - it's on it's way Celine! I'm looking forward to making something special with these buttons, thank-you!

birthday bag

On some days, things just fall into place, not very often, but today they seem to. Ash and Josh were happy to play and watch ABC kids this morning while I finished off a birthday surprise for a friend. I used some of the Florence Broadhurst fabric that I picked up a few weeks ago and even had time to line it!

......they both ate their lunch, had their milk and went off to bed for a nap without a fuss (and are still asleep). Might make myself a cup of tea and watch some daytime TV while I can!

bits and pieces

Not much time to sew this week as Ash hasn't been well. Now that she is feeling better she has decided to wake up at 5am (???) for the past few mornings so we have been a little spaced out around here. I had a little time to try out some pincushions - spotted them here. Will try and keep Ash up a bit later tonight in the hope that she will "sleep in" tomorrow!
